Monday, October 4th:

Matt got up extra early for early morning service all day with Dave. I've taken the day off from vaction, partly because I just cant keep up with Matt, and partly because I needed to get this thing hooked up and caught up. We only have a day left before the road trip, so I've alot to do.

The Gosdens invited us over for dinner. As we walked up to the house, I saw Marnie on the roof, but Matt did not notice. I helped Simon (Marnie's brother-in-law) carry in some new chairs for their veranda, and told Marnie that Matt was just coming around the corner. As he did, she dropped a handfull of leaves down on him from the gutter! They have a garden with a real scarecrow. Ness came out to tell me that tea was ready carrying Sarah, their aged and hearing-impaired cat. Her mom told us how clean the cat was - how once it got locked into the church next door and had no litterbox to go in. When someone came the following morning and opened the door, the cat took him to see where it had gone.

For dinner we had two of the tailor fish that Dave and family had caught on their recent holiday (the ones he was showing off to us fresh from the eskie on Saturday). It was surprisingly good. I dont usually like fish, but it wasn't fishy at all.

Matt and Marnie were going to have their study, but he was so exhausted from his full day of service that he just crashed on the bed. In the meantime, Marnie showed me some pictures of her trip to Hong Kong and Vietnam. It looked absolutely amazing. Percy told us all kinds of stories from when he was a missionary, and got out the old black and white pictures from his Gilead graduation.
