| Sunday, October 10th: The wedding is today, but none of us know how to get to the Kingdom Hall because we're all from out of town. We rang up everyone we knew for directions, but could only leave messages. Matt got a lift to the local meeting (a different hall) so the guys are just chillin in the cabin watching a car race. I had my first aussie pie for breakfast today. Wasn't too bad, but a bit greasy. I went off for a walk to the beach nearby by myself. It was really nice. The dunes reminded me a little of the Long Island Sound. Some people were out getting their sailboats ready for the day. We decided it was best to take advantage of the laundromat at the caravan park before the ceremony. None of us have ever used a machine quite like this, so the three of us guys stood there, sratching our heads trying to figure out where to put the washing powder, and how much to use. It was pretty funny to watch, but we sorted it all out. We had a miniature game of pool while the clothes were drying. Mike picked me up in his rented 4x4, and we're off for the night to Renmark, 250km east of Adalaide, while the others go to the wedding. On the way we passed a bridge over the Murray river. There are these interesting looking dead trees coming up from the middle of the river. Mike didn't bring any music with him, so I whipped out my laptop, plugged my AC inverter into the cigarette lighter, hooked up my external hard drive with 30Gb of MP3s on it, ran all the cables around my feet, and sent the sound out an FM transmitter that we picked up. It was awsome! But the sheer number of wires required was a funny sight. When we got to Renmark, we stopped by some friends that Mike knew from his trip to the states for the international convention. Mike gave me the impression that we were going deep into the countryside, and that it'd be on a farm and all. But they took us out to this incredible restaruant at a golf club. It was the nicest place we'd been to the whole trip. Then, I find out to my absolute delight, that the bloke I'd been chatting to about Stephen Hawking has wireless broadband in his home and will be taking Mike and myself in to stay for the night. I am in sweet digital heaven right now with an blazing fast 256kbps wireless connection. Ahhh.. the google logo never looked so good.. I ate kangaroo tonight. I was supposed to tell you that I'd gone deep into the rural parts of Australia to a backwater restarurant and eaten kangaroo, but Renmark is one of the nicest places I've seen. They've got some great wineries that Mike and I will check out tomorrow. The kangaroo was alright. It looked like lamb, but it wasn't nearly as tender. It was hard to get off the bones. I really only did it to be able to say that I did it. Though, in retrospect, I probably still could have said it without actually eating it... They took us down by the river there across the street from Haydn's dad's store. Haydn manages the Yates Menswear website from there. Last night (while I slept in a caravan park) there was a free concert from a houseboat right where we were standing. The guy from Icehouse was there, and they played that song, "Great Southern Land" from the Young Einstein movie. I wish I could've seen that!
